Dr Howard Porter, EURIS Chair, said “EURIS welcomes the freedom to diverge from EU regulations where divergence brings real benefit to the UK – particularly if divergence helps enable the UK to thrive as a modern, dynamic, independent country and fosters innovation across the British economy. However, we would urge Government to consult with industry ahead of any divergence that impacts on the UK manufacturing industry as appropriate regulatory alignment for manufactured goods is vital to maintain important supply chains and to ensure the continued success of the UK’s industrial product supply sector which is worth £148 billion to the UK economy”.
